Description
Wouldn't you love to abolish the IRS ...
Keep all the money in your paycheck ...
Pay taxes on what you spend, not what you earn ...
And eliminate all the fraud, hassle, and waste of our current system?
Then the FairTax is for you. In the face of the outlandish American tax burden, talk-radio firebrand Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder are leading the charge to phase out our current, unfair system and enact the FairTax Plan, replacing the federal income tax and withholding system with a simple 23 percent retail sales tax on new goods and services. This dramatic revision of the current system, which would eliminate the reviled IRS, has already caught fire in the American heartland, with more than six hundred thousand taxpayers signing on in support of the plan.
As Boortz and Linder reveal in this first book on the FairTax, this radical but eminently sensible plan would end the annual national nightmare of filing income tax returns, while at the same time enlarging the federal tax base by collecting sales tax from every retail consumer in the country. The FairTax, they argue, would transform the fearsome bureaucracy of the IRS into a more transparent, accountable, and equitable tax collection system. Among other benefits, it will:
- Make America's tax code truly voluntary, without reducing revenue
- Replace today's indecipherable tax code with one simple sales tax
- Protect lower-income Americans by covering the tax on basic necessities
- Eliminate billions of dollars in embedded taxes we don't even know we're paying
- Bring offshore corporate dollars back into the U.S. economy
Endorsed by scores of leading economists and supported by a huge and growing grassroots movement, the FairTax Plan could revolutionize the way America pays for itself. In this straight-talking book, Neal Boortz and John Linder show you how it would workâand how you can help make it happen.

You will shocked twice -- first at the true destructive nature of the current system, and then at the amazing potential our economy still has, if only the the FairTax would be enacted. A book for everybody ... left, right, economist, layman.

Summary: "FairTax- a return to the intent of the Founding Fathers"
This great book simply lays out a concept extensively researched and simple to enact that will replace our current income tax based system by a national sales tax- the type our Founding Fathers intended. It is a very persuasive book because it is based on simple facts: tax costs are passed onto the consumer at every level. Taxes are an individuals burden, bottom line... so a system that allows the individual to decide when to pay taxes (whenever they purchase goods and services) is the one that also gives the individual the most liberty. This system also taxes everyone evenly. Even those with income under the table (criminal networks, drug gangs, you name it). It also results in illegal aliens and tourists paying into our system. The elimination of the tax burden during production will lower prices across the board. I can only hope that the common sense and clear thinking discussed in this book will be something that our country finds leaders brave enough to try.

Summary: "Makes Perfect Sense: That's the PROBLEM!!!!"
I listen to Neal Boortz almost daily now, and whether I agree with "everything" he says or not - - he makes "common sense." This book truly educates the reader about the history of our income taxation process in a way that will make it stick in your head to peruse at a later time! It is easy reading, entertaining, but most of all shows how our government leaders are, unfortunately, no different that a third-world countries leaders now. . . yes, I mean corrupt! (Bottome Line: If we were allowed to stimulate the economy by being allowed to receive all the money we make, we would feel a sense of control over our economic destiny and our economy could explode like nothing we have ever seen. However, since we have nothing but money hungry politicians who are only looking out for number one in D.C., this thing will likely never fly! (However, I did see a junior senator who now the world knows takes the low road in every single thing he touches in in charge of what was previously known as the "Greatest country in the history of the world!" So sad.)
READ THIS BOOK. IT WILL ENLIGHTEN YOU. IT MIGHT EVEN MAKE YOU MAD ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE! MY HATS OFF TO MR. BOORTZ (AND LENDER) FOR THEIR EFFORT TO WAKE UP WASHINGTON- - -BUT IT MIGHT TRULY BE TOO LATE TO FIX THIS WELFARE STATE WE HAVE ALLOWED TO GROW INTO A WAY OF LIFE FOR SO MANY PEOPLE.

Summary: "Fair Tax Paperback"
As a purchase, the book arrived in timely manner, was in excellent condition at a very fair price.
As a book, my review would probably not be in order in this context; however, it spells out the awful, wasteful, oppressive nature of the present, monstrous income tax system under the IRS, and presents the great advantages, both morally and financially, of the Fair Tax proposal. There are facts of cost and administration of which most taxpayers are unaware.
I sincerely recommend that anyone and everyone read it, and urge that it be brought into use.
